To be a News Editor, one must look the part.

Hi everyone, the name's Majed but you might know me as lost_keeper from the boards or on irc. I first started out as a previewer here at RPGamer, researching and writing about games; however, after several months of doing that I've been promoted to Head of the News Department. I've got a lot more weight on my shoulders now, but I think I can handle it. Anyway, if you're interested in taking a look at my work here at RPGamer, then check out my Personal RPGamer Archive. If you want to know more about me, then you're in the right place!
So about me... well, I'm an aspiring journalist and writer; I recently graduated from the University of Portsmouth in the U.K. with a bachelor's degree in Media Studies with Creative Arts. Part of the reason why I took that course was because I've always dreamt about making my own videogames but I was never good at programming. Instead of being on the technical side of the industry, I decided I would focus more on the creative aspect. Hopefully, somewhere down the line, I'll end up writing scripts, creating storyboards, or designing characters for game companies. Any one of those jobs, in my opinion, would be the very definition of the "perfect job." However, I'm not limiting myself to a pure videogame career path; journalism in general, and writing for other media or subject matter are also right up my alley. Overall, I just enjoy the whole process of researching, learning, absorbing, and following through with a good idea; it's what really drives me.
Speaking of writing and aside from my duties here at RPGamer, I try to keep myself busy by working on my novel. I like writing fiction, but fiction with tons of historical or cultural references. I find it to be a productive and rewarding hobby that maybe, one day, could turn into a career. Job hunting also eats up a lot of my time; I'm constantly sending out those resumes, which means even more writing for me! I also spend a lot of my time jamming on my bass guitar, watching films, and just spending time with family and friends. I'm a regular dude just like you.
As for gaming, it's one of my most treasured hobbies. I'm a perfectionist and I have to literally get everything in a game before I feel satisfied to move on with the next. It's a bit of an annoying habit but it just goes to show how much of a gaming-fanatic I am. Anyway, it all began with my first game which was Super Mario Brothers on the NES. However, back then I was too young to fully appreciate games and it wasn't until the SNES came out that I became a true gaming-junkie. I remember those days; every summer I'd stay at an older friend's house and play Final Fantasy IV/II, VI, Secret of Mana, Lufia, and Paladin's Quest. Those were some great times. When the PlayStation came out, I was completely blown away by Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII. After playing, excuse me--experiencing those masterpieces, I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life... that's right be a bum and play games all day! No, just joking, I wanted to create games. I witnessed the potential that games have as powerful cinematic works of narrative. It's only a shame that many consider games to be low culture, and at the moment it's still a fairly young industry. However, if we remember that nearly a hundred years ago people felt the same way about film; but look at where film is now. Oh, when will a true golden age arrive for gaming? That's a question that has plagued my mind for a very long time.
So... that's it. That's who I am in a nutshell. Feel free to contact me!
