RPGamer Position: News Roundtable Director
As a regular visitor of RPGamer (in one incarnation or another) since it was hosted on dragonfire.net (which, coincidentally, once hosted my own homepage, until its hard drives were fried, frozen, electrocuted, stolen, and I think a wormhole opened up to swallow the rest... those were fun emails), I was always interested in giving something back to the site. When I discovered the chance to work as a news writer, I immediately lept to take it. The first time, I crashed and burned, but that didn't stop me from trying again, and succeeding. I feel very proud of all we've accomplished in the year I've worked here, and I hope to see many more quality years to come.
Like many who work on sites like this, my ultimate goal is to write games. To me, there's very little that can exceed the feeling one gets when they manage to create a virtual world using only their imaginations and a language designed to make those imaginings reality. It is with this goal in mind that I decided to study computer science at the University of Illinois. Little did I know that none of the teachers in the department actually speak understandable english... It'll be an interesting few years.
Despite majoring in CS, I've found nearly as much success in the area of journalism. I'm currently holding two jobs in that field (well, this is more volunteer work than a job =) ). The experience from this job landed me a second job at our local campus newspaper, the Daily Illini, recently voted best in show at some national convention or another. I do online editing there, and it's a blast, especially considering the fact at any given day I'm one of four guys in a newsroom of 30. Which is always a plus.
