What a brave corporate logo!

   I tell you, you start out writing a few self-inserts you never live down and look where you wind up.

   Some of you might know me as Renfro Calhoun from Fanfiction.net, or Cal Renfro from Livejournal — yeah, all three of you. The rest of you might recognize me as the guy spending an inordinate amount of time writing hypothetical events in game universes (one in particular), or perhaps you’ve spotted/chatted with me on the boards. Be that as it may, I’ll be your resident editorial quality control guy, which is interesting considering most of my contribution to the editorials section consists of making occasional “witty” one-sentence replies on the forums or posting pictures of famous dictators in lowriders.

   What to know about me? Well, I'm a writer, which is to say I aspire to be one. Fanfiction, nonfiction, editorials and a novel; specifically, the first three are experience towards the last one. When I'm not doing that, I'm lurking on forums (either here or at Penny Arcade), poking around IRC, or working through my backlog of games that I'll totally finish someday, no really, I mean it. In my non game-related time, I... aw, who am I kidding? Most of what i do revolves around games. But I walk, and I read, and I gamble, and I give a mean speech on demand, and I hang out with the fellas, and a few other things of note. I've been told I should be on the radio. I'd be happy being the next Mike Royko.

   Other fun facts: I’ve worked in a public office twice, would take a bullet for Warren Spector, think Hideo Kojima is overrated, took the Rio in Vegas for $500 in 2004, and am of the opinion that “Undergrads” went before its time. My favorite contemporary movie is the Big Lebowski, my favorite old movie is Sahara, I’m a sucker for webcomics, and like cats despite being mildly allergic to them.

   All said, my tenure at RPGamer, both as a visitor and as a staff member, has been an enjoyable one, and ultimately a constructive one as well. Here’s hoping I can keep it up for… oh, I don’t know. Pick a number :)
