The first RPG I played was Final Fantasy IV
(then known as Final Fantasy II to us living in the West). Needless to say,
the game blew my mind and I instantly fell in love with RPGs. I remember,
one time, I had decided to write a novelization of the game. Unfortunately,
I don't have a copy of it (not sure I'd want it either. I was so young then,
my writing must have been terrible). What a terrific game, though. Till this
day no other game has been able to best its ending. It helps to have a
brother, though, to really feel the ending for what it is.
So I've been a fan of RPGs for a long time now. Besides
playing them, I also made them in the good ol'(slightly illegal) community
of RPG Maker. Good community, I'm still a part of it somewhat. I made a game
called Zephyrus and the Kingdom of Heaven, which probably cannot be
found anywhere since I don't have a link for it up (so sorry). The game was
supposed to be three parts, I only made the one. Why? I wanted to write it
and publish it instead. It was mostly story anyway, which is probably why I love
RPGs as much as I do since they're the genre in the game community that has
the strongest of stories.
But besides playing RPGs, I love to read (and, of course,
write). My favourite author is Michael Moorcock (bad last name. You can just
imagine the looks I get at Chapters when I say it). The books are hard to
find, at least in Canada. So one day I went on what I call a "Moorcock-hunt"
(now that sounds wrong) and I bought all his books. Every single one. I even
have two copies of some of them. I'm his biggest fan, believe it. I remember
reading Corum when I was young (I originally picked it up because of
Amano's cover drawings and thought--oh! Final Fantasy!). The book was
fantastic. The best thing about his books is that you, as the reader, just
cannot expect what is going to happen. You just can't, Moorcock will always
surprise you. I definitely recommend him.
And that's it (severely condensed, of course). Drop me a
line on IRC or send me an email if you want to chat or hear more of my life
stories.
