I've been visiting
RPGamer.com since the days of Final Fantasy VIII. In fact, what first
drew me here was the early promotional video of the FFVIII demo. Ah,
those were the days. Anyway, back to what you came here for--me. When I
first joined the site back in November of 2004, I started out as a news
and media updater. A few months afterwards, I was asked by Andrew Long
to take the helms of a new project: a business and industry news
column, called Currents. Of course, I jumped at the
opportunity. It was a fun run at the helm of Currents,
but after 30-some issues, I decided that it was time for me to move on
to other things. And that brings me to my current position as a
soundtrack reviewer. That's right, for the first time, your beloved
Carlisle will work with the Interaction section of RPGamer. After
having my way with News, it's time for the other half of the site to
feel my lukewarm wrath. Trust me, while I'm here, s0x0rs will be
r0x0red.
As far as the
good-old personal life goes, I'm a graduate of the University
of Nebraska, with a B.A. in economics. I first started playing video
games when I got my Nintendo
Entertainment System at the age of 6 and I haven't stopped since. My
first RPG was the original Zelda. For those of you who would eat glass
before calling Zelda an RPG, I also first played Dragon Warrior around
the same time. It wasn't until I played Wild Arms that I became such a
fan of the genre, though. Today, I'm a big handheld and 2D RPGs, and I
must own every game scored by Yasunori Mitsuda. As far as
consoles, I own a PS2, Gamecube, GameBoy Advance, DS Lite, PSP, and
Wii.
Oh, and at the time of this writing, my PC is also a decent gaming
machine, though by the time I've finished this sentence, something
three times better will be out.
Aside
from the video game related stuff, I enjoy the occasional hit primetime
TV show (i.e. Lost, House, 24, Prison Break, etc). I'm also currently
teaching
myself to play guitar, but that's slowed down unfortunately. Of course,
as a gamer, I also enjoy a good anime every now and then. Some of my
favorites include Gundam Wing, Evangelion, and Fullmetal Alchemist.
Most recently, I started getting into DDR, which as it turns out, is a
lot more fun than it looks. Wow, my non-video-game-related paragraph
pales in comparison to my video-game-related paragraphs. Maybe I should
get out more. But you know what they say: 'nah.'
Anywho, feel free to
talk to me on IRC, AIM:
Greensleeves545, or via email.
I can also be seen in FFXI on the Midgardsormr
server as Scian. Thank you and good night.
