Currents + iPhone = Awestruck Children

These things are so hard to fill out without seeming awkward, pretentious, or boring. I suppose by saying that I will probably become them all at once... Oh well! I guess I should say "thanks" for clicking here. I really don't know why you did, but "Congratulations!" I've been around RPGamer for about a year now, and I don't quite know where all the time went. I slaved over and revamped the now thriving Currents section of the site (which Ollie is doing a great job at right now), dabble in Editorials occasionally, and have even been known to do a Preview now and then. Oh boy!
Anywhoo, this section is supposed to be about me, right? Well, Hello there! I'm Cole. I'm 21 and I currently go to the University of California, Santa Barbara for Philosophy and Sociology. I have a wonderful girlfriend, whose name is Ashley, and we've been together for over four(!) years. I'm entertaining the idea of working as some sort of videogame journalist in the near future, so if you're curious about my other works, take a peek at my workblog for other samples of my writing tidbits.
As far as my love for gaming, it goes back almost as far as I can remember. I still remember making handmade maps to the first Zelda and playing through Earthbound and Final Fantasy VI two or three times before I was actually able to finish them. I'm still stuck on classic, old school games with phenomenal stories, and awful(ly amazing) graphics, even though I've finally jumped headfirst into the "next-generation" of consoles with my purchase of a Wii this christmas. I guess my love affair with the DS finally pulled me out of the dark ages and into the light of a thriving console. It's almost blinding!
Aside from the obligatory love of games, I'm also extremely passionate about music. From playing guitar to hosting a radio show on KCSB (UCSB's radio station), music has always been my second love to videogames. If you like post rock, instrumental music, indie rock, underground hip hop, or even emotive hardcore, we should talk music. I'm probably one of the few people around here that doesn't listen to much videogame music, but I'm a huge fan of The Advantage so I think I should be okay.
Regardless, I'm excited to be around RPGamer and seem to pop up in the most unusual of places. See if you can spot me around, sneaking about from place to place; it's like I'm in some sort of "I Spy" game! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about games, music, or just want to give me some feedback. Oh, and its iLchymis, not ll or IIchymis! Damn that English language and it's suspiciously similar characters!
See you around!
