Up here, boys.

Hello all, the name's Alicia, also known as Ailise (which is actually just my name is old Irish, not too creative huh?) on the IRC channels. Glad we've gotten past the pleasantries; the beginnings of these things are always so awkward to write. Anyway, I was lucky enough to be hired as a newsie here at RPGamer, and now I'm co-head of the department! You can check out my partner in crime (and his ridiculously cute baby boy), but only after you're done here :P

As of right now I'm a sophomore at the University of South Florida majoring in Political Science, but I'll possibly be transferring as a Junior to the University of Florida, we'll have to see how that pans out. I try to focus my studies a bit more on the international relations side of things. My ultimate goal, following grad school, is to land some kind of position in the State Dept., probably as a foreign service officer. I know, I know, 'she wants to work for the government?!', yeah, yeah I do. :P

But enough about that, you came here for the games. I was pretty much born into gaming, both my parents into playing long before I was in the picture. I got into RPGs through a mix of coincidence and curiosity, when I just decided one day to rent Secret of Mana instead of another platformer. Since I was only about seven or so at the time, I couldn't appreciate the genre to its fullest, I was pretty much just interested in wandering through towns, content that I could just barge in and explore people's homes. Nowadays I'm a bit more sophisticated and well-traveled, enjoying games all across the genre spectrum, and doing a bit more than just looting houses and chatting with NPCs. I don't do a great deal of online gaming, but I appreciate its significance in the industry. I just don't have enough time for it. I love games that are thought provoking and leave me with something, hence RPGs being my favorite kind. I also thoroughly enjoy a lot of those bizarre sleeper hits like Gitaroo Man and Katamari (although I guess that doesn't qualify as a sleeper). Heck, I'm just a game connoisseur in general, if it looks like it has some substance, I'll give it a go.

Well that's all for now. I'm sure I'll add or change things as time goes on, that is if they haven't already caught on to me and my plans for a hostile overnight coup...but I've said too much. Feel free to contact me on IRC or through email or the boards or what-have-you, I'd be more than happy to chat with you.
