Got movie sign?
|
I live in England and I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy VII. The new FF7
movie that I have heard about has seriously caught my attention and I was
wondering if you knew when it is to be put into the cinemas. It would be
great if you could give me a rough estimate for English cinemas but if not
then I am still interested in when it comes out in America. Another concern
of mine is that this new movie may not be coming out in Great Britain. If
this is the case could you please tell me and suggest some ways in which I
will be able to see it in the future. Thanks alot!

Googleshng:
As I understand it, it isn't getting a theatrical release at all. It's just a high tech OAV sorta deal.
As for whether it'll be released outside Japan, that hasn't been announced yet. I'd give it 50/50 odds
myself.

Hey Google,
I couldn't agree with you more about mornings. They suck, and there is really no justifiable reason to be awake during them. I suggest chucking Prinnies at your neighboor the next time he starts wood chipping in the morning.
Anyway, on to my question. In games like Disgaea and Tactics Ogre (to name a few) you always have the option of getting multiple endings. Now this idea is usually aclaimed as great since it prompotes replay value however I've found that I very rarely get the other endings. This boils down to two factors a)once I beat the game I usually tend to move on to a different one for a change of pace and b)when I finally do play the game again I am reluctant to take a different path usually because I just don't agree with the choices the character needs to make to get the other endings.
Take Tactics Ogre. To get the multiple endings you basically just have to follow the different alignment paths but the problem is that if you follow neutral or lawful you miss out on some of the best players and lose the ability to unlock a some of the side areas.
The only game that really made the multiple endings good was Chrono Trigger, and to a lesser degree, Chrono Cross. This was mainly due to the fact that the ending changed bassed on what point in the game you defeated the last boss.
I think this idea works better as it gives you the ability to see the different endings without worrying about losing out on other parts of the game, since you can just reset it from your last save point after seeing the ending and continue further on in the game.
I was curious what you and others thought of multiple endings overall and how we could improve them / or shouldn't improve them at all?

Googleshng:
I'm all for having multiple endings, so long as I'm not being forced to do too much over again. If I can
get every ending by doing a few things differently at the last minute (like Disgaea), or there's actual
plot branching early on (Kartia, Vanguard Bandits), I think it's great. Except of course in those situations
where the gameplay gets so repetitive that even winning it once is like a chore (Front Mission 3). Letting
you start over with all your old stuff when going for additional endings (Chrono Trigger/Cross, Disgaea)
is also a plus.

More Multipartitude

Hey there Google!
Long time reader, first time writer. ^_^ Anyway, it's nice to meet you. I'm Queenie, and I've got some topics that all the ignorant masses - I mean faithful readers - could talk about:
1) Kinda unrelated, but in the Oct. 12 Q&A your answer to the first letter tells me that you're a HomestarRunner fan. If this is true, then I'm buyin' you a pizza.
|
|
Googleshng:
No, it tells you I'm a Strong Bad fan. Homestar doesn't really bring in the crowds himself.
|
2) About this new Zelda compilation... Do you think that Zelda 1 and 2 should have graphical upgrades? I personally think that a fresh new look would rule, but I'm cool if they leave it as it is. :)
|
|
Googleshng:
Personally? I don't care. The only time I pay attention to a collection of games I own is when someone
else I know doesn't.
|
3) Finally, what is your absolute LEAST favorite game of all time? And it doesn't have to be an RPG... Mine would have to be E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari 2600. I had more fun watching dubbed episodes of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon than I did playing that piece of crap! (And that's saying something, considering I hate the English version with a passion.)
That is my letter for today. Maybe I'll write again tomorrow, but maybe I won't. It'll depend on whether I'm locked in my room playing Soul Caliber 2 or not. (Best... fighting game... ever...)

Googleshng:
Restricting this only to games I've paid money for, because otherwise it's way too hard, Parasite Eve 2.
Hands down.

Eesh, late with one update...

Hey Googleshng,
Are the Round table discussions still going to be
a weekly feature? I haven't seen a new one in a
while. I was just wondering because I think that
they're great. If they are still going to be
semi-regular, it would be nice to have a link to them
on the front page a la Q&A,reviews, etc.
And, though I can't discount the usefulness of
chainsaws while dealing with zombies, a trusty
boomstick would also work quite well against the
living impaired.
Thanks for the help,
Chris DoubleU

Googleshng:
As I mentioned in yesterday's RT,
there were a few nasty delays this week, but yes, they're still a regular weekly thing. Also, seeing how
they're the only regular weekly thing not currently in that big bunch'o'links on the left of every page,
I've been pestering the powers that be to fix that.

Googleshng:
Well, seeing how RPGamer has an ironclad policy against posting rumors, and we wrote this
story on it, I would be strongly inclined to believe that it is not fictitious. It is however one
of those things there's not a lot of information on out there though, so I'd guess there's a lot of rumors
floating around ABOUT it.

Some parting silliness

Is it just me or does 'chainsaw' not fit into 'one of the best things to use
against them' due to the strikingly lack of blowing things up?
