On the subject of BoF3
|
This is just a quick one, in response to the question about making Peco a
powerhouse. (Ergh...I haven't played it in a while, so I had to look at a
FAQ to get these names.)
Fahl and Giotto are really good for the first few levels, since your HP will
shoot up (and with it his regeneration) and the skills aren't all that bad.
(Make sure you get the Chain formation because Peco's speed will be NOTHING.)
After a bunch of levels there, Ladon or Deis are good. If you don't use the
chain formation, apprentice under Meryleep. By the end of the game, I had
Rei and Peco doing really well. It's a challenge, but it's good to do if
you're up for it.

Googleshng:
And there you have it.
|
| | |
He's right. This isn't the place for this.
|
Q&A may not be the appropriate place for this, but don't you think Tony Green's review of Tactics Ogre is a bit harsh? I would much rather play this game than most of the crap on the market today, but by his review (he gave it a 5) it would seem you should avoid this game. Do you think this is a case of game critic trying to hard to be critical?

Googleshng:
By most people's scales, yes, a 5 IS a bad score, but unlike most sites, we don't rate games on a scale
of 5-10 with 7 being mediocre. We rate games on a 1-10 scale where 5 is average. Since the average RPG
is pretty darn fun, you don't hit bad until about a 3. If this confuses you, I'd suggest actually reading
the review instead of looking at the fairly arbitrary numbers up top. In fact, I'd recommend that anyway.

Can I have a Mountain Dew?
|
Hey Goog,
I've noticed subtle product placement in some FPS games and others. I was wondering do you thing video game companies will get greedy enough to have actual advertisements in games? Like Pepsi being a healing drink, mountain dew waking your character up, or even just stuff in the background of modern-like cities (signs, billboards, etc...) I know if it did happen most of the products would be Japanese.....so maybe they're in there already?! My god! I've been subliminally coded! Well just thought I'd write this letter and I think there's a question in it. Now I'm off to McDonalds for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch and....wait, its happening again!!!
Please stop the madness!

Googleshng:
Parasite Eve 2. Coke was a healing item, and Square was paid well for the fact. So then people buying it
were subjected to an absolutely wretched game, AND product placement!

I've noticed that orson scott card has been mentioned many times in the
column, what's a good book to start with? also, what happened to the poll
comments section?
|
|
Googleshng:
Go read Ender's Game. Then you can move on to sequels. As far as the poll goes, the person who changed
it this week evidently didn't feel like updating the comments.

SirNi, grey-skinned slinky psionic Nebari nut
No no I'm not slinky n.n

Googleshng:
So you ARE grey-skinned? Anyway, aside from Farscape, there's uh... Zim, Simpsons, and Futurama. I believe
two of those are currently undead though sadly.

Hi,
I recently found the identity to an action figure I had and she's from
the Robotech series. The uniforms reminded me of Xenogears. Is there any
connection between the two? Also, was an RPG ever made that was based on the
anime series?
My birthday was yesterday (8th). Is there any chance someone could send me a
PS2?

|
Googleshng:
Well, Xenogears ri- er, pays homage to just about every mecha anime, so there's that connection. As far
as a Robotech RPG, there's at least one RPG of like, every RPG series, plus there's the Super Robot Wars
series, so I'd think so. Oh, and then there's the U.S. made paper RPG based on Robotech too.
