I do apologize for the lack of a Monday column last week. I have no good excuse, really... Mom came into town, I bought and needed to play Tony Hawk 3 (on GameCube, of course), and I had a nasty headache. As I said, no good excuse, so, sorry.
There's no quote to guess this week, as I can't think of a bloody one right now, and I've not the time nor energy to search.
As alluded to above and in earlier columns, I did indeed get a GameCube, and four days early, no less. I love it, it's fab, and the new Smash Bros. comes out in just a tad over a week.... just in time for finals. I'm so going to die.
Enough rambling. Let's move on to today's letters.

Yo Aegis,
First off, the answer to "It's 2 am, the fear is gone" is from Golden
Earring's Twilight Zone. I kinda hope that I was first, but I doubt it.
And secondly, why do I always buy the consoles that die or don't do so
well? I own a Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, N64, and a Dreamcast? Is it some
plot by evil space ninjas or something?

P-Paul
Aegis:
P-Paul here sums it all up. I attribute your console-owning bad luck to, well, just luck, I suppose. Things should turn around. Hopefully.

sega cd revisited, again

Heya, Aegis-sama!
I noticed on ebgames.com that Lunar: SSSC is going to be rereleased in
December. Do you know if it will have all the goodies that it had on the
first release?
BL Alien
Aegis:
And here's BL Alien, the submitter of our current poll. A good poll, I might add, but given the nature of this site and our readership, the winning pick is horribly obvious.
A Lunar rerelease is indeed on the way, and word is that it'll hit with a price tag of about $30. If it's that cheap, I really doubt Vic and the gang at Working Designs would be throwing in the goodies as well, so my personal magic 8-ball says "not a chance."

I heard a rumor that Square-soft, with all their great Final-Fantasy games,
is going to switch over from PlayStation 2 to the X-Box. Is this true?
Final Fantasy Fan
Aegis:
There's been rumor of Square jumping ship from the PS2, sure, but nothing close to concrete, and there's been nothing confirmed. On a related note (although this hasn't been confirmed either, I don't believe), Square is expected to release the online FFXI on not only PS2, but Xbox, GameCube, PC, and heaven knows what else as well.

q from last week, part 1
|
Morning Andrew,
I know you got your GameCube. Isn't it just yummy? :)
Die, you Imperial scum!!!...sorry, got carried away.
Anywho, off to an actual question. I've heard a lot
of people say that the GameCube may be hampered by
its mini disc format, since it holds less data than
the standard DVD's of its competitours. Do you think
this could be a limiting factour and possibly not such
a good decision by Nintendo in the long run? Why or
why not? Personally, I don't think it will slow down
the Cube at all. And now back to your regularly
scheduled column.
Barry
P.S. Dude, have you seen the cover of the new Rolling
Stone? Go find it. Trust me, you'll adore it as much
as I do. Mmmm...Britney....;p
Aegis:
Greetings, Barry. Cutting straight to your post script, no, I've yet to see the issue, but of course I'll look it up. I know some consider it a personal flaw, but I think Britney's all that and a bag o' chips.
As for your question, the fact that the Cube uses a smaller DVD (1.5 gigs, I believe, in contrast to what I remember as 4.7 gigs for standard size) could be a bit of a pain in the ass, but it's still over double the size of a CD, and multi-disc games are an inexpensive option if necessary. So, I agree with you; I don't think it will really hinder the Cube's potential in the least.

q from last week, part x
|
Do we know an exact date for Final Fantasy X yet? Thanks.
Chad Scott
Aegis:
An exact date, I don't believe so. A small number of copies (well, small being about half a million) are rumored to ship on Dec. 26, with the official launch of the remaining stock still set for early January.

|
End of the Road:
The column was short, I admit. I didn't get much mail this week, and I even dug into last week's pile. No matter. Keep it real, people, and ask Googleshng a question or two.
Andrew P. Bilyk wants his smashy new Smash Bros. goodness now. Not later. Now.
