LETTERS WITH AEGIS
Monday, February 25, 2002 "when i am king you will be first against the wall"

DO YOU REMEMBER?:

Wow, folks. We set a record. Two (2) letters I received today, after skimming the spam off the top, of course. I'll print them both, as well as a bit of something I received last week.

Though I wouldn't say I've necessarily been hard at work on my game lately (because I haven't, what with school and life [two different entities]), things are progressing well, regardless. In the same manner that I approach many things, the battle system, which was my first priority, will be just about the last thing done. That said, no, it's not quite ready yet. I feel a bit guilty delaying it further, but you guys can deal with it, I'm sure.

What is done, though, are the individual pieces for just about the entirety of the game. Movement and scrolling across maps is done, text display is done, battle logic is done, character display is done. There are a few parts I'll have to finely tune, but all I really have left is pure assembly of said parts, which should be an easier and more enjoyable task.

I considered showing off a bit more of the game's art tonight, but I'd druther wait one more week and let you experience it yourself in interactive form, so, there's something to look forward to. Til then, though, let's take a minute or two and browse through the following:

    Guess the Quote Contest
Try to guess (be specific) the quote towards the top of the page. If you're the first one to email me with the correct answer, I'll mention you in my next column. An individial may not win the contest twice in a row.

    !quote
I'm noticing that rather than put up a quote this time, you didn't. I, therefore, declare your quote is from nowhere. I win!

    Aegis:
Sure. I can't really argue with that logic, can I? Especially since no one else made such a claim. I ran completely out of good ideas last time, so I figured a week off would be alright. This week we're back in business, though, so get crackin'.

    theory
Which of you was the one who had a crush on the White Wizard from the original Final Fantasy? I always thought it was a girl.

    Adam

    Aegis:
I'm assuming by "you" you're referring to we Q&A hosts. That said I'm going to guess Cheshire Catalyst, as I think I remember reading it, and, well, it fits. I'm also assuming by "it" you mean the white mage. That said, you're half right, as the white mage is obviously female in the beginning of the game, and, after having a sex change alongside the class change, is male for the rest of the game.

Hola Shield of Many Defenses ^.^

Como estas? Bien! Anyway, there are a few things that I thought to talk about today. First off, my slightly PC-RPG based webcomic has finally launched! After many a long months waiting for my Keenspace account to be fully activated, the adventures of Locke are finally ready to be shown. The comic is located at locke.keenspace.com. Right now, there's only a piece of filler art, but as soon as I finish this comic sitting next to me, it'll be put up (hopefully tomorrow afternoon).

Secondly, just how many subquests and such are there in Baldur's Gate II? I'm trying to complete them all, but they just keep coming! Heeeeelp!

Well, happy deflecting of arrows, swords, and blunt weapons!

    Henry "Locke" Westerman

    Aegis:
Bien. ¿Y tu? Well, you're linked, so all you readers should check 'er out if you're into that sort of thing. Webcomics, you know.

As far as your BGII question, I use my computer for very little more than programming, writing, and communication, so I have no idea. I'm sure a FAQ might help, though...

    End of the Road:

Well, that's it; short and sweet. Have a good week, mail Google for tomorrow, and I'll catch you in seven.

Andrew P. Bilyk is in Delaware. No, not really.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Q&A, as I, Paws, have abducted the column for a week. This week is the week of the reviewers! I will be hauling along Zack (ASV) and Paul (Amish) with me, so feel free to include them in letters too. =^^=
