A New Beginning...

Hello! First off, a brief apology. I'm EXTREMELY late with getting all this done, and I can only apologise. Things have been pretty hectic lately, but I'm finally getting a hold of things and it's time for the new captain to take the chair (That'll be the only Star Trek reference, I promise!). For those of you that took the time to write letters in to me, I hope you don't think I was ignoring you!
Anyways, I'd better introduce myself. I'm Danny, and it's an honor to be hosting this column and answering all of your letters! I've been reading this column myself for a good while now (At least as far back as the Matt/Wonderslime days) and I've always wanted to do this kind of thing ever since reading a column for the first time.
Now the introductions are over with, lets get this show on the road! It's not a big column today (mainly since my lateness means most of the letters I recieved have already answered), but I still have 2 nice letters to run though. Warp speed! (Alright, that really was the last one!)

Mack Danny -
Danny
I can't speak for Mack, but I'm definitely Danny. Hello!
So we got us a new Q&A guy huh? I'm hoping it's just taking some time for you to set up shop, because it's been a bit since ethos last column. I saw some good questions in the rpgcast thread, so I hope they are not hogging all the love. Unfortunately I didn't have an great rpg stuff for them to discuss, and I don't know that I've got a lot for you to inspire some deep pondering either. So I thought I'd hit you with some getting to know you type questions that might help inspire future correspondance. If this is ground you've covered already in your column intro, or others letters, feel free to ignore me (past columnists have said they've gotten complaints when they couldn't get to everyones letters, that ain't me though so feel free to cut me any time to make a good column.)
Danny
Yep, we have a new Q&A guy! It has taken me a while to set up shop (a lot longer than I initially expected, although that was mainly my fault) but I got here in the end. I wouldn't worry too much about deep pondering, I'm always pondering something! Well then, lets see what questions you have for me today...
So, how do you primarily game, console, handheld, pc, or a combination of the three?
Danny
A combination of all three, really. It kinda depends on my mood. Somedays I'll just want to turn on my PSP and play something, other days I'll be playing Final Fantasy XI on the PC, playing a game on my trusty 360 whilst also doing stuff on my DS. If I'm only doing one (or two) of those at any one time though, I'm usually found playing PC or 360 games since I prefer playing multiplayer games.
Any franchises you particularly adore?
Danny
Not particularly. I like plenty of franchises, such as Final Fantasy and Breath Of Fire, to name a couple, but not to the point where I'd say I adore them. To be honest, I tend to prefer standalone games when it comes to RPGs (Blue Dragon comes to mind right now). Most of the franchises I like aren't RPGs at all (Resident Evil, DooM and Devil May Cry are a few).
Any sub-genre of rpgs you really like/hate? (strategy, action, japanese, western, etc.)
Danny
Strategy, without doubt. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're all great games if I had the patience to play them, but I just don't have it in me. I prefer fast games really, which really puts me off strategy games. My fondness of turn based games has reduced considerably since more and more Action RPGs have started coming out in recent years.
Any games outside the rpg realm that you love?
Danny
If any staff are reading this, they'll probably know the first games I'll mention - the Resident Evil series (seriously; I'm pretty sure I've driven some insane through talking about it!). I played the first game around the time it came out, and I've been hooked ever since! Needless to say, I'm currently obessed with Resident Evil 5. Some others were also mentioned in your second question, but others include the Tony Hawk's series, the Grand Theft Auto games, just about anything with Gundam in the name and many, many more.
Passions beyond gaming?
Danny
I absolutely LOVE martial arts, and I'm currently practicing the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon-Do, alongside my other main passion which is Parkour/Freerunning. I also enjoy stuff like writing, jogging and anything Japanese, particularly anything related with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series (and all the other Gundam series). I also have a slight obsession with collecting and building Gundam model kits.
What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
Danny
Having looked up what one of those actually is, ALMOST anything! (But don't take me up on that one...)
Alright, I think that's good for now. Best of luck with Q&A, this column is what drew me to RPGamer initially so treat her kindly, or I'll have to get rough with ya.
HyphyKezzy
P.S. I almost forgot, what kind of schedule do you have planned for the column, it's nice to know when to get letters
Danny
Is that a threat or a promise, good Sir/Madam? Either way, it's in good hands (Or at the very least, that's the general idea!). Thank you for wishing me luck, I'll probably need it! As for the schedule... It's kinda up in the air right now. It keeps being arranged, and I keep messing it up! Most likely either on Mondays or Wednesdays. Look out for more details in the very near future.
Thanks for your letter, HyphyKezzy I'm looking forward to hearing from you again in the future!

Eggs come in strawberry flavour?
Hello Danny!
Danny
Hello! So, what do you have for me today?
So what do I, the letter-writer, say to a first time Q&A host? Do I
welcome you? Do I congratulate you for getting the job? Do I do
something else? You get what I mean, I hope.
^^;
Danny
As you are the letter writer, you may do as you wish! Well... Within reason! I get what you mean.
While I don't write letters to Q&A as often as I'd like (I still can't believe I didn't find the time to send a farewell message to Ethan at least), with this bit of time I found, I thought I should send you one. You may or may not recognize my name. I am Strawberry Eggs and I have a penchant for rambling on and jumping from topic to topic in my letters. Since this is a first letter, I though it would be better to ask you a few questions rather than talking aimlessly about whatever RPG-related I come up with or games I'm playing and such.
Danny
Yes, I do believe I recognise your name. Whilst I realise I'm meant to be providing answers and not questions I have to admit I'm curious, where did your name come from? In any case, ramble and ask away!
To being, how does it feel to become the new Q&A host, especially considering how abruptly Oliver and Ethan left?
Danny
It feels good! Very good! I was a bit surprised by how quickly things altered around here, nevermind how surprised I actually was to end up in the position I'm in now, but considering how things have turned out, I'm feelin' good! It's a shame to have lost two great hosts, but I'm hopeful I can rise to the level they were at before they made their exit.
Did the first RPG you ever played made you an RPG fan? If it didn't, what game was it that made you a fan of the genre (for you or anyone of the other reader, yes, I ask this of every Q&A host)?
Danny
Hmm... I'm not even sure I can answer this one. I've been playing games since I was about 4, and I can't remember that far back! For me the earliest RPG I can remember playing was the Final Fantasy VIII Demo for the PC. I played it, I loved it, and I played it again and again until the full game was finally bought for me. It's quite funny how I ended up with it really. I played the Final Fantasy VII Demo around the same time and I really liked that too. When my next birthday came around (I can't even remember which one that was!) I spent the entire day searching shops looking for VII, but could only find VIII (I think it had just come out at the time, I'm not too sure), which I ended up getting. It's a good thing I did, because I ended up liking it a lot more and that's what truly got me into the world of RPGs. The gameplay got me interested, the story got me hooked. Then I started looking for similar games to see if their stories were as strong and now I'm an RPG addict!
How big of a fan of RPG music are you? Which game(s)have you most favorite OSTs? Do you collect RPG music? For me, it's a big yes to the first and third questions. As for the second, I absolutely love Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles's OST. It easily has my most favorite music. Baten Kaitos: Eteranl Wings and the Lost Ocean is a close second.
Danny
Well, I love a lot of RPG music, but I don't collect OST's (although I do listen to a lot of RPG stuff on YouTube). I know a lot of the staff think I'm absolutely insane for this, but I LOVE the music from Blue Dragon, especially the boss battle tune "Eternity". It's so unbelievably awesome! Thinking of it, most boss battle music from most RPGs are awesome, my 2nd favorite being Final Fantasy VIII's boss theme, the name of which escapes me right now. My absolute favorite game song of all time however isn't from an RPG game. If anyone's familiar with the Mega Man X series, they've probably heard the theme from Storm Eagle's stage (if not, give it a listen - it's awesome!). I've yet to hear a song that knocks it #1 spot on my list (although Blue Dragon's "Eternity" was really close).
Do you have any interest in the up-coming Wii game Arc Rise Fantasia? I still don't understand why I want this game so much, but I'm getting that same "DO WANT, WILL BUY!!!" feeling I got with Tales of Symphonia.
Danny
Alas, I do not possess a Wii, so I've had no real inclination to look into any of the games for that system. Perhaps when I get a Wii (and at some point I will, even if I lack a space to put it!) I will seek it out and you can ask me again!
Well, that's all for now. I hope you are enjoying being the new host.
Until next time, Danny!

Danny
Oh, I'm enjoying it very much! I'm looking forward to hearing from you again, Strawberry Eggs. Thanks for writing in!
Well, that was a good start! I hope you all enjoyed my first attempt at being a host. It's a pretty slow start admittedly, but once I get the hang of things everything will work out fine, you'll see!
As I mentioned above, when I regularly do the columns hasn't been established quite yet, but rest assured it will probably be Mondays or Wednesdays. When I know, you'll know! As for actually contacting me, there's a few ways. Obviously, there are the two e-mail addresses you can get in touch with me on (if you have a question directly for me, send it to my email directly for the time being to make sure I get it), but I'm also going to try a new version of an old idea.
Do you remember the "Quickies" section from the older Q&A columns? If not, here's how it works - you send me a very short question (literally a line or two at most) and I answer it in it's very own section. You can send me these questions in one of 4 ways - my email, the Q&A e-mail, through IRC (I'm not on anywhere near as much as I'd like, but I'll be on more often from now on) and in what I believe may believe is an RPGamer first, you can also send me a message to my XBOX Live account if your on an XBOX. Please note that if you do send me a message in this way, it HAS to be text based; I don't want to have to transcribe audio messages just in case I mishear something that's said. To get in touch with me, my Gamer Tag is Adoboros. Regardless of how you send me your messages, I'm really looking forward to hearing from you!
And now to go and await more questions... And to clear out the outrageous amount of spam I keep getting in my inbox >.<" Toodles!
